Food DIY: Homemade Garlic Mushrooms.

A Garlicky Side Dish or A Simple Starter, Its Whatever you want it to be!

These garlic mushrooms are fab as a starter or a side dish accompanying many meals. Its an easy recipe to follow and can be done in just a few short minutes.
(10 ish minutes to be precise)

Food Ingredients.

  • 2 handfuls of button mushrooms
  • 50g Butter
  • 1tsp Basil
  • 2tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2-4 Garlic Cloves
  • Sesame seeds for garnish.

  • Saucepan
  • Small knife
  • Wooden Spatula or Spoon
  • (optional) Garlic Crusher

Ready? Lets Start!

- First Things first, Set a saucepan on low heat and add the butter to melt.
Start Chopping your mushrooms into even slices.

- When the butter has melted add one tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tsp Garlic Powder into the mix and stir briefly.

- Time to crush or finely chop the garlic. I have this magic little tool that crushes the garlic from whole cloves. It makes life so much easier!

- Add the Garlic to the pan.

- Make sure not to over cook or burn the butter as this will end in a nasty taste.
Add your mushrooms to the mixture and fry in this saucepan until soft (or cooked to your preference)

- Dish Up, Sprinkle with a few sesame seeds if you wish and serve.

- Thats it! Told you it was easy didn't I? =)

If you have some more time before hand create the mixture and soak your raw mushrooms for 10-15 minutes,then cook afterwards, this allows them to absorb more of the flavour.

For an alternative treat why not throw these in an oven proof dish and sprinkle with cheese.

Feel free to add more garlic to taste, i don't actually like garlic or mushrooms! But my family all love this recipe and enjoy it as an accompaniment to several of the dinners i prepare.

Do you have a recommend a way of cooking garlic mushrooms? i'd love to hear some alternative cooking instructions!

That's all Folks.
